Cody Library Summer Reading 2026

The Cody Library’s Summer Reading Program combines reading, community, and kindness into one unforgettable summer adventure for all ages. Through our Kindness Rocks initiative, readers will not only earn prizes and attend amazing events, but they will also help decide how community kindness funding is shared.

Because stories matter. And kindness matters too.

How Summer Reading Works

Beginning June 1st, readers of all ages can stop by the Cody Library to pick up their Summer Reading materials and start earning:

  • reading rewards

  • raffle entries

  • and special Kindness Tickets

Participants are encouraged to read for at least 20 minutes each day throughout the summer. Every day you read helps support community kindness projects through the Cody Library’s "Kindness Rocks" initiative.

Here’s how it works:

  • Every day you read, you earn a ticket.

  • Tickets can be used to vote for local kindness projects that will receive community funding at the end of the summer.

  • Participants will also receive entries for raffle prize drawings.

  • The more you read, the more chances you have to support kindness and win prizes!

Adult readers use special bookmarks to track reading progress by filling in stars for every 20 minutes read. Completed bookmarks can then be entered into prize raffles and kindness project voting.

Teens in grades 6–12 will find their Summer Reading materials in the Teen Room.

Kids in Grades K-5; please bring your Summer Reading folder or calendar with you every time you visit the library!

The last day to earn and turn in tickets is Saturday, August 1st.

At the end of the summer, the Cody Library will reveal the total number of kindness tickets earned by readers of all ages during the Kindness Celebration.

Let’s make this the biggest year yet!

Supporting Aavah Mangus

Readers can choose to direct kindness tickets toward supporting Aavah Mangus and her family.

Aavah is a brave and spirited young girl who received a heart transplant as an infant and continues to face ongoing medical challenges, including kidney failure and future transplant needs.

Readers can also support improvements to the outside of the Cody Kids’ Library.

Funding from kindness tickets will help create updates and safety improvements to make the library even more welcoming, safe, and beautiful for local children and families.
