The Powell Library is inviting families with babies and toddlers to celebrate the start of a new adventure in reading with the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Kickoff Party on Monday, September 22 at 10:30 a.m. in the Heart Mountain Hall Meeting Room at the Park County Fairgrounds (655 E. 5th St.).
The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program isn’t new to Park County Libraries. We’ve been part of this nationwide challenge for several years. But with this event, the Powell Library is excited to highlight the program and encourage more parents and caregivers to join in.
By reading just one book a night, families can reach 1,000 books in three years. Research shows that reading aloud during early childhood is the strongest predictor of future academic success. It helps close vocabulary gaps, builds essential early literacy skills, and, most importantly, fosters a lifelong love of reading.
The program is free of charge and open to all families with children from birth through age five. No registration is required to attend the kickoff party. Come celebrate stories and the joy of reading together!
