Four Shillings Short Farewell Tour Comes to Park County Libraries

Get ready for an unforgettable musical journey as Four Shillings Short brings their unique blend of Celtic, folk, world, and traditional music to Park County Library for two free family concerts this fall.

After 31 years of touring throughout the United States and Ireland, husband-and-wife duo Aodh Og O’Tuama and Christy Martin are embarking on their Farewell Tour. From summer 2026 through winter 2028, the duo will visit many of their favorite communities and venues one final time before retiring from touring and settling in Ireland.

Park County audiences will have two opportunities to experience this extraordinary duo:

A Celebration of Ireland

Join Four Shillings Short for a celebration of Ireland featuring traditional Irish music, songs, stories, and plenty of instruments. This is a free family concert, and everyone is welcome.

A Samhain Concert: Celtic Festival of the Ancestors

Celebrate Samhain, the ancient Celtic festival marking the transition from autumn into winter, with an evening of music, storytelling, and traditions from the Celtic lands. This free family concert is a wonderful opportunity to experience Four Shillings Short's one-of-a-kind musical style.

A Musical Journey Across Cultures

Four Shillings Short's music travels far beyond traditional Irish folk music. Their repertoire includes traditional and original music from the Celtic lands, Medieval and Renaissance Europe, India, and the Americas.

And then there are the instruments.

Together, Aodh Og and Christy perform on more than 30 instruments, including hammered and mountain dulcimers, mandolin, bouzouki, recorders, tin whistles, North Indian sitar, charango, banjo, Native American flute, bodhrán, guitar, ukulele, doumbek, darbuka, bowed psaltery, and even a krumhorn. Their concerts combine musical virtuosity with storytelling, history, humor, and a genuine love of the traditions behind the music.

The duo met in Palo Alto, California, in 1995, married in 1996, and began touring nationally the following year. Since then, they have performed approximately 80 concerts each year, released 13 recordings, and shared their music everywhere from theaters and festivals to schools, churches, folk societies, and libraries.

Their farewell tour offers audiences one final chance to experience the remarkable musical world they have created together.
